Estrogen is known to reduce migraine headaches.  I suggest estrogen reduces headaches, migraine headaches, by reducing DHEA. It is my hypothesis that excessive DHEA causes constriction of blood vessels that cause migraine headaches. Please see "DHEA, Migraine and Epilepsy," of 1997 at http://www.anthropogeny.com/Migraine%20and%20Epilepsy.htm .

Estrogen treatment reduces DHEA concentrations: "The data also suggest that estrogen treatment (OCs and ERT/HRT) suppresses DHEA concentrations in premenopausal and PM females..." (Metabolism. 2001 Apr;50(4):488-93). I suggest the reduction of migraine headaches produced by estrogen is due to suppression of DHEA and this supports my explanation of migraine headaches.
